This turnkey opto-sensor system dramatically improves efficiency of spooling and winding operations. Enhancing accuracy and precision, the system prevents backlash, bunching and tangling resulting from uneven or warped take-up spools.

Set-up for use with non-reflective reels/spools

A two-component transmitter-receiver configuration creates a steady beam of light, or "light barrier" effect. The system is positioned such that the spool flanges interrupt, or break, the light barrier thereby triggering reversal of the traversing direction of the drive head. Because the system does not rely on the reflective properties of the take-up spool, it can be used with virtually all spools and reels regardless of their composition or reflective qualities. The system is ideal for use with metal, wooden, or plastic spools, or other spools with zero or low reflectivity.
