For winding materials onto spools with biconical flanges. This assembly utilizes purely mechanical means to automatically move the end stops outward or inward.
Pitch control enables a 10:1 turndown on the Uhing drive linear pitch. Lever/scale on Model RG, Dial on Kinemax.
With this option the Uhing drive will reverse regardless of which direction the shaft is rotating.
NOTE: End stop assemblies are not included
Located on the front of the unit, the free movement lever allows the unit to be pushed to any position on the shaft without having to jog the motor.
Ramps down the linear speed of the Uhing drive unit at reversal. Primarily used for winding flat material. The H option may also be configured for ramp down/ramp up depending on application requirements.
The standard reversal option features automatic reversal via spring tension on the lever.
When the shaft is turning at less than 10 RPM it may be necessary to use the pneumatic reversal. A regulated and filtered air supply of 45 PSI is all that is needed for this option.
Pneumatically operated free movement.
Rollers mounted on the back of the unit ride on the guide bar to prevent the rotation of the unit on the shaft. Comes standard on all models.
Rollers fitted to a top mounting plate assembly in conjunction with a top steady bar to prevent the rotation of the unit on the shaft. Optional on Models: ARG3/4-50 to ARG3/4-80
With the S option, set screws are driven into one end of the Uhing drive unit housing. The ends of the screws contact the rolling ring assembly and hold it at a specific angle relative to the shaft. Adjusting the set screws enables custom pitch settings in each direction of travel. This option is useful when special spacing is desired between the rows of material being spooled. No adjustments to motor speed or other controls are necessary.
Protects the Uhing rolling ring linear drive from sustaining torque-induced damage. Recommended for applications where the load is situated so that it could cause twisting and torque of the guide rails and supports.
In applications where the linear speed is faster than .25 meters per second this cam and contact lever system is recommended to prevent damage to the reversal mechanism.
Traverse length control knobs located on the outside of the assembly. Turning the knobs causes the end stops to move apart or together in fine increments. The position of the end stops determines the traverse reversal points thereby setting the stroke length. Adjustments may be made while the unit is in operation.
Rubber scrapers prevent dirt and debris from entering the inside of the traverse. Scrapers are recommended when machine oil, metal chips or particles may accumulate on the shaft of the assembly. The scrapers also help prevent damage to the shaft by restricting particles from being pressed onto or dragged on the shaft by the bearings.
Rubber scrapers with grease fittings lubricate shaft during operation. The addition of the grease fitting is recommended for high RPM shaft speeds and when usage is near 24/7. The scrapers with grease fittings come assembled with an internal felt ring to evenly distribute grease along the shaft.
Adjustment of pitch via worm gear and threaded rod design. Permits fine adjustments to linear pitch to accommodate fine wire and other thin materials. The pitch may be increased or decreased safely while the drive is in motion.
